Alumni/Parent Weekend: March 6th, March 7th, 2010 This year’s Alumni and Parent Weekend celebrates the 40 year anniversary of the Crew's 1970 Western Sprint and Pac-8 Conference Champions. Come to the Banquet (on campus this year) to hear the story of the only UCLA crew to ever beat the Huskies on their home course. We’re expecting a good turnout of alumni from past crews, so make your reservation soon. Bring your photos and stories...and be prepared to see people you haven't seen in years!
Saturday, March 6th: The Men’s Crew races the Loyola Marymount University Lions Saturday morning at Ballona Creek (schedule will be posted at www.uclamensrowing.org as the date approaches). Come cheer on the Crew in their first race of the 2010 season!
Saturday, March 6th: Banquet at the UCLA Faculty Center - Main Dining Room - 6:00 pm, 480 Charles Young Dr. East, Los Angeles, CA, 90095.
Entrees (choose one): Vegetable Paella, Salmon Filet, Grilled New York Steak $75 per person (For recent grads, Class of 2005 or more recent, a ticket is $50).
The evening will include a silent auction described below. We might sell-out so please RSVP soon by completing the enclosed response sheet. After February 20th we can't guarantee a place for you. For questions, e-mail Christopher Beeckler at christopher@beeckler.com, or call (213) 215-4075.
Sunday, March 7th: Alumni Races at the Boathouse, Ballona Creek - 10:00 am. Get there by 9:30 am for boating sign-ups. Race old teammates! Last year we had 6 full eights on the water! Bring the whole family and share with them this chapter of your life. There will be a barbeque after the races.
Silent Auction Donations Wanted! The silent auction at the 2009 Alumni/Parent Banquet was an enormous success, raising much needed money to support the Crew. Once again we need your help by donating rowing and non-rowing-related items, including items such as: the use of vacation homes; UCLA Bruins, Dodgers, and Mighty Ducks game tickets; rowing attire; a round of golf; a dinner for 4; autographed Bruin memorabilia…and frankly anything that anyone might want to buy. The proceeds will go to benefit the UCLA Men’s Crew. If you have an item to offer for this year’s silent auction, let auction chairman Alex Papanicolaou know. You can e-mail Alex Papanicolaou at fourauction@gmail.com, or call (650) 575-6179.
Wine Tasting and Auction! - We will also continue the popular wine tasting and wine auction at the banquet. Each person/couple who participates must provide two identical bottles of fine wine. One will be opened for tasting and the other will be sold as part of the silent auction. We need to know in advance of the banquet the wines you will be providing in order to prepare tasting notes to make the event interesting. There will be a $20 fee/person ($40/couple) to participate so sign up in advance. The bottle of wine sold at the silent auction (as well as the wine tasting fee) is tax deductible to you. John DiPol is coordinating this. You can e-mail John at fourauction@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support of the UCLA Men’s Crew and we look forward to seeing you in March!

The Friends of UCLA Rowing (F.O.U.R.) provides financial support and assistance to the UCLA men's rowing program. The Men's Rowing Team is not funded by the university, and for the program to continue to grow and prosper, it is vital that new sources of revenue are found. One of the most important functions of F.O.U.R. is building the Men's Crew Endowment. A gift to the endowment will provide for the program in perpetuity. F.O.U.R. has tax-exempt status and is affiliated with the UCLA Alumni Association. Funds raised by F.O.U.R. become part of the UCLA Foundation.
