Wine Tasting and Auction Items Needed!!!
The live, silent, and wine auctions at our annual banquet are a major revenue source for the crew. Our live auction at the 2011 Alumni/Parent Banquet with Geoff Strand as auctioneer was an enormous success. Once again we need your help by donating to the auction. We are seeking in-kind donations of unique items and opportunities of interest to our community. Rowing and UCLA related items are always great revenue producers. For example, do you have a John Wooden-signed 7-Up bottle commemorating "The Streak" lying around that you might like to donate? Since we are honoring UCLA Rowing Olympians, do you have Olympic memorabilia? Vacation homes; sporting event tickets; rounds of golf; dinners and entertainment; and adventure weekends have proved popular and attracted large bids.

It is essential that we begin to attract donations from outside our community in order to increase our auction revenue. Can you help by reaching out to corporate contacts, businesses, and friends for wine (pairs of bottles for the tasting or special wines for auction-only) and unique items. Rides on the Goodyear blimp; a luxury box for a Lakers game at Staples; golf at Pebble Beach. These are the types of items only businesses can provide and which typically attract large bids. Please coordinate donations with John DiPol at FourAuction@gmail.com or (310) 318-5363.

Friends of UCLA Rowing

The Friends of UCLA Rowing (F.O.U.R.) provides financial support and assistance to the UCLA men's rowing program. The Men's Rowing Team is not funded by the university, and for the program to continue to grow and prosper, it is vital that new sources of revenue are found. One of the most important functions of F.O.U.R. is building the Men's Crew Endowment. A gift to the endowment will provide for the program in perpetuity. F.O.U.R. has tax-exempt status and is affiliated with the UCLA Alumni Association. Funds raised by F.O.U.R. become part of the UCLA Foundation.
